English language requirements
English language requirement must be fulfilled by the application deadline.
To apply for studies a proof of English language proficiency must be shown through one of the following tests:

Waiving English language requirements
Proof of English may only be waived if a candidate:
- has finished from either International Baccalaureate (IB) or European Baccalaureate (EB) school (applies for entering to Bachelor's studies only)
- has completed secondary or higher education taught fully in English in one of the following countries: EU/EEA member states, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand.
Please note that the transcript of record must include that studies were conducted fully in English.
If you have completed studies in English but not in the country named above, we ask you to present an internationally recognised test. Please see the requirements above.

Please note that TalTech English Proficiency Test is offered in our Campus, in Tallinn, Estonia and occasionally during info-sessions abroad. It is not possible to take TalTech English test online.

The English Proficiency Test, administered by the Centre for Language and Communication of Tallinn University of Technology, is a test of general academic language abilities and literacy skills. The test result can be used as an evidence of proof of English proficiency to apply for studies at TalTech. Candidates who have received the required B2 level at the English Proficiency Test of TalTech are waived from taking the above listed internationally recognized tests. Please note that a test result submitted after the admission deadline is not accepted for the current intake.

Due to the state of emergency in Estonia, all TalTech English Proficiency Tests are cancelled until June at the Centre for Language and Communication. Please follow this homepage for further information about testing.
Candidates that have paid the fee for the test and would like to get a refund are kindly advised to contact aia dot bondarenko at taltech dot ee for further information.
The refunding process will take about 14 days with no additional cost for the candidate.

ABOUT THE ENGLISH PROFICIENCY TEST
Length: 2.5 hours
Cost: 45 EUR
Content of the test:
- Writing Test (an argumentative essay)
- Listening Test (listening for detail and gap-filling tasks)
- Reading Test (reading comprehension and vocabulary tasks)
- Speaking Test (discussion in pairs)
Each candidate for the test will be issued a Certificate of English Proficiency based on the results of the test.
Candidates who are applying to Bachelor or Master level studies at TalTech, do not have to upload the TalTech Certificate of English Proficiency to the online application. However, we kindly ask to mark there that you have taken the TalTech English Proficiency Test.
NOTE! TalTech English language test can be retaken 4 months after first trial.
The cost of the test is 45 EUR. Fee must be paid via bank transfer. A copy of the payment order should be included to the test registration form down below.

At the test, the candidate is expected to present a photo ID (a passport or ID-card). Students will not be admitted to the test without the required document.
