Keynote Speakers

Ferenc Ender
Ferenc Ender is PhD, MSc in Electrical Engineering, MSc in Biomedical Engineering, and associate professor at the Department of Electron Devices, Budapest University of Technology and Economics. His research area is the application of nanostructured supports in microreactor devices. Founder and CEO of the university spinoff focuses on nanofiber technology.
"Nanosupports in Flow Reactors for Pharma 4.0”
ABSTRACT - Microreactor-based flow chemistry, combined with the toolset of Industry 4.0 opens new horizons from laboratory to industrial-scale applications. The talk covers three case studies such as the industrial application of a microreactor platform, a flow chemistry platform based on the selective anchoring of magnetic nanoparticles, and the possible application of nanofibers in microreactor devices. Present challenges and opportunities of nanofiber technology will be also discussed.

Marcelo Godoy Simoes
Marcelo Godoy Simões is a Professor in Flexible and Smart Power Systems at the University of Vaasa, Finland. Prior positions include 11 years at the University of São Paulo (Brazil), 21 years at the Colorado School of Mines (USA), visiting professorships at Georgia Tech, L'École Normale Supérieure de Cachan and Université de Technologie Belfort-Montbéliard in France, Petroleum Institute in Abu Dhabi (UAE), and Fulbright Scholar at Aalborg University. He developed several AI-based power electronics for renewable energy and smart-grid integration, with several advanced applications, such as wind energy conversion, and early automation-control based-model of fuel cells. His current research interests include smart grid-based inverters for renewable energy, power electronics and power systems, power quality, renewable energy, and artificial intelligence. He is a Fellow of the IEEE with the citation "for applications of artificial intelligence in control of power electronics systems."
"Enhancing Power Electronics Enabled Electrical Power Renewable Energy Integration for Flexible Systems”
ABSTRACT - Renewable energy requires bidirectional power electronics for flexible energy systems based on photovoltaics, wind turbines, heat pumps, geothermal, fuel cells, and hybrid electric vehicles. This project makes better residential and commercial installations through decarbonization, less greenhouse gas emissions, and away from fossil fuels. A design and implementation of grid-forming and grid-following inverters with smart energy management for active/reactive power flow will make the operation of transmission level, sub-transmission, and distribution enhanced with a meshed network dynamic hosting capacity. Digital Twin (DT) flow of information will allow a virtual platform to enhance forecasting for energy economy of scale, power quality, more resilience, and cyber-security. Case studies based on the electrical power grid interconnection in the USA and Europe will show improved renewable energy and storage solutions for a smart grid-based artificial intelligence-enhanced control topology.

Maksim Butsenko
Maksim Butsenko is a Staff Machine Learning Engineer and founding member of the Data Science team at Bolt, a European super-app company focusing on mobility services in 45 countries across Europe and Africa. Maksim has a PhD in Information and Communication Technology. His current projects at Bolt include integration and development of Large Language Models and building efficient infrastructure for training and hosting deep neural networks.
"Machine Learning Applications in Urban Mobility: Data-Driven Path towards Greener Cities"
Machine Learning and data-processing technologies are paving the way for more sustainable urban transport solutions. We will look into efficient dispatching systems that minimize waiting times and emissions, how leveraging edge computing for real-time data processing in micromobility help us to make scooter rides safer and how employing large language models enable us to automate customer support services to provide faster help to the end-users. This presentation highlights the critical impact of Machine Learning in making urban mobility more efficient, user-friendly and sustainable and making our cities better places to live.

Submission Guideline & Paper Format
Submission Guidelines
Prospective authors are requested to submit a full paper of four to six A4 pages including illustrations and references, in English, in the format of a PDF file.
Accepted papers will be published as submitted in the Conference Proceedings that will be provided to all participants at the beginning of the Conference. To have the paper included in the final program, proceedings, and IEEE Xplore, the presenting author must register as a regular attendee (or as a degree student if applicable).
As an IEEE policy, the papers by no-show authors will not be included in the IEEE Xplore.
For further information concerning the scientific program and submitted contribution, please contact Prof. Yannick Le Moullec or Prof. Peeter Ellervee.
Paper Format
The purpose of a conference template is to provide a consistent format for papers appearing in the conference proceedings. IEEE strongly encourages the use of the conference manuscript templates provided below.
IEEE conference templates contain guidance text for composing and formatting conference papers. Please ensure that all guidance text is removed from your conference paper prior to submission to the conference.
Failure to remove template text from your paper may result in your paper not being published.
Submission and reviewers site
The submission and reviewer processes will be managed by easychair.org on this: EASYCHAIR LINK
If you have used this system before, you can use the same username and password. If this is your first time using EasyChair, you will need to register for an account by clicking the "I have no EasyChair account" button. Upon completion of registration, you will get a notification email from the system and you will be ready to submit your paper. You can upload and re-upload the paper to the system by the submission due date. In case of any problem, please contact the chair for assistance, or email bec@taltech.ee
