Timeseries of temperature, salinity, density and mixed layer depth (black line on the bottom panel) from May till September 2015 in Gulf of Riga, west from the island of Ruhnu.
Strong subsurface salinity maxima layers were observed in the second half of July. Likely these layers are signs of inflowing intrusions of saline and warm water from the Baltic Proper. This type of water exchange regime might contribute to the rapid seasonal oxygen decline in the deep layers of the Gulf of Riga.
