Ambassador of Japan to Estonia Tetsuro Kai visited TSEBA
On 7 October 2013, His Excellency Ambassador of Japan to Estonia Tetsuro Kai visited TSEBA to formally open the “Japanese for Beginners” academic course that became an integral part of the Faculty’s curriculum in the discipline of International Relations.
The initial idea of offering our students a unique opportunity to learn Japanese language was generously supported by the Japan Foundation Grant Programme on “Japanese-Language Education Activities”. During the visitation, the Ambassador, accompanied by First Secretary Ms Kazue Fujimoto, had a meeting with the Dean of TSEBA Professor Üllas Ehrlich and the Head of Department of International Relations Professor Peeter Müürsepp. The part of speeches was followed by informal discussions that the foreign diplomats had with the attendees of the opening ceremony – our students and professional staff (the latter group included Ms Yumi Nakata who was appointed as teacher of the Japanese language course). The friendly discussion concluded that TSEBA’s efforts to enhance Asia-Pacific Studies at the Department of International Relations will be leading TUT to international prominence and further recognition.
