EIT Digital summer school in Tallinn
From the 14th of July until the 26th, 37 students from all around the world gathered at TalTech’s Mektory in Tallinn, Estonia to participate in the EIT Digital Summer School on Integrating Personalized Mobility Solutions for Digital Cities.
The Summer School program gave two students the opportunity to learn from leading experts in the field of Urban Mobility and, additionally, to interact with new and innovative mobility solutions like Starship’s self-driving robots and TalTech’s self-driving bus.
In addition to classroom learning and field visits, the students gained hands-on experience in developing and nurturing a startup from ideation to prototype implementation over the course of two weeks.
After the two-week development period, every team pitched their idea, business, and prototype to an all-star jury consisting of government experts, angel funders, startup coaches, VC capitalists, and IT experts.
The ideas developed included smart-IOT networked trashcans, short-term furniture rentals, smart-IOT based bus stops, an urban mobility visualization platform, a data-labeling application, an application for finding the closest available parking spot, and an application for using crowdsourced data to create personalized tourism solutions.
