Mecklenburg-Vorpommern state delegation at TalTech
On 21 March 2019, a high-profile German ministerial delegation from Mecklenburg-Vorpommern state (also known as Mecklenburg-West Pomerania) led by Hon. Christian Pegel, Minister for Energy, Infrastructure and Digitalisation, visited Tallinn University of Technology's Innovation and Business Centre Mektory. The visit was held in the framework of joint Estonian-German annual festival Deutscher Frühling (German Spring), which traditionally includes culture- and science and new technologies-related events. The main interest of the delegation was on e-governance and digitalisation-associated topics.
The German guests enjoyed two comprehensive presentations - on the concept of e-governance in general and e-Estonia in particular, delivered by Professor Robert Krimmer (Ragnar Nurkse Department of Innovation and Governance, School of Business and Governance), and on cyber-security, delivered by Professor Olaf Maennel (Centre for Digital Forensics and Cyber Security, Department of Software Science, School of Information Technologies).
In a significant addition, a number of highly productive as well as unique workshops (on Smart City, Big Data and Artificial Intelligence, Digitalisation and X-road) were conducted for the visitors by Mektory, with some invited speakers from both public and private sectors also participating. A busy day it was, but the high professional level of TalTech and its integral units was acknowledged by the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern ministerial delegation.
