Professor Staehr about experiences of the Baltic states after the introduction of the euro in Le Monde
Professor of TTÜ Department of Economics and Finance Karsten Staehr was interviewed by Le Monde for an article discussing the experiences of the Baltic states after the introduction of the euro.
Professor Staehr explained the background for the countries joining the euro and the measures taken to satisfy the admission criteria. He also pointed the membership of the euro area implied an unprecedented degree of integration into European governance structures: the votes of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania in the governing council of the European Central Bank count as much as the votes of Germany or France.
