If you have any problems you can seek assistance from the contacts at the end of this page. Registration code for Physical Education in OIS is HSK3031 (first time), next semester HSK3032 and so on. One code can be declared only once.
Tallinn University of Technology has a new and modern Sports Center right on the main campus area. You can join the following activities:
- Table Tennis
- Indoor hockey
TUT Sports Hall (Männiliiva tn 7) is located in the neighbourhood of TTÜ Main Building. The hall is covered with 1,750 square metres of parquet. The court can be divided into three by using specific curtains. The big hall can accommodate 1,050 spectators.
TTÜ Sports Centre is open from Monday til Friday from 8:00am till 16:00pm only for TTÜ Students.
Sports Centre for TTÜ students:
TTÜ students who are studying on free programs can use Sports Centre for free by declaring it in OIS like other subjects. The Bachelor students can declare physical education for free for four semesters during their bachelor studies in Study Information System OIS. The same applies for the Masters and Doctorate students. The integrated students (3+2) may declare it for six semesters. Declaring gives you the right to use TTÜ Sports Hall from Monday to Friday between 8:00 and 15:30.
When declaring the course Physical Education, a student must select between three different fields of study and lecturers:
- Fitness gym - select the lecturer Risto Jamnes
- Group fitness - select the lecturer Kristi Aedma
- Sports games (basketball, volleyball, table tennis and badminton) - select the lecturer Heino Lill
NB! On first registration select code HSK3031, on second registration code HSK3032, etc.
The selected field of study indicates the trainings which one wishes to attend most, but it does not set any restrictions on attending other trainings. It means if you sign up for GYM you can also attend group training classes on your own chosen time. Attendance at any training is taken into account (will be taken down from the 20 compulsory trainings needed to get the ETCs). However, it is recommended to attend mostly the selected trainings.
As from this year there is no need to sign up in the Sport Center separately (you will not need 2 pictures and the white card). A student card is required for entering the sports building and for calculating the trainings one has attended. Student cards can be ordered from TTÜ Student Union and students can apply even if you do not have an Estonian social security number or Temporary Residence permit yet. Without the card you will not be able to enter the Sports Hall so please makse sure it is tied to your OIS account.
Your student card will become active after you have declared the course in OIS.
According to the system, the attended trainings will be calculated individually and each student shall be personally responsible for it (please count the attendances yourself as the trainers will not be able to give you the information on spot). For a training to be taken into account, you must validate the student card in the sports building for three times (also know as The Three Beeps).
- The first validation will take place when entering the building (like in previous years), where the security gates can be opened only by a card connected with the study information system OIS.
- The second validation will happen in the sports hall (group fitness, ball games, fitness gym) when going into the class – the trainer will tell you all when coming to the class. all the sports halls are equipped with validators.
- The third validation takes place, when you leave the building, where you can open the security gates only by using the card. The third validation ensures that the attended training is taken into account.
For an attended training to be taken into account, you must stay in the building at least for an hour, which means that the time span between entry and leaving shall be at least 60 minutes. For the ECTS credit points to be taken into account, you must attend at least 20 training sessions (it is allowed to attend more when you are done with your 20 trainings).
Studies take place from Monday to Friday, from 8:00 to 15:30. The training sessions begin at: 8:00, 10:00, 12:00 and 14:00. One training session lasts up to maximum 1.5 h. The declared students can open the security gates of the sports centre at the beginning of each training session. You cannot enter the gates in the intervening hours. You can enter the building 30 minutes before, but not later than 20 minutes after the training session has begun (for example if you want to attend the 10:00 class the doors will let you through at 9:30 and will be closed at 10:20).
According to the procedure, there are supervised and unsupervised fitness gym and sports games training sessions. Supervised trainings mean that the class takes place under the lecturer's supervision and attendance at supervised trainings is compulsory (no independent training takes place during these training sessions). It means that if you want to go to the gym at the time of guided class you have to follow the trainers instructions.
Supervised fitness gym training sessions begin with warm-up exercises, various exercises are performed under the supervision of the lecturer and great emphasis is placed on correct training techniques.
Supervised sports games (basketball, volleyball, table tennis and badminton) trainings focus on the development of basic skills. The warm-up exercises prepare the body for the upcoming physical efforts. As the training intensity increases, specific developing exercises are performed followed by the sports-specific part, which includes throwing competitions, a variety of games and exercises. A training session ends by stretching exercises.
Unsupervised trainings are like the ones in the previous academic years, where each student follows his/her own training plan and can ask for advice from the lecturer, if necessary.
Supervised training sessions take place once a day in the morning; the concrete dates of the trainings will be available on the TTÜ sports website and will be published not later than on 14 September.
