TalTech students received nearly 50,000 euros worth of scholarships
At the end of May, the TalTech Development Fund awarded 50,000 euros worth of scholarships to 32 students. Since its establishment, the fund has awarded 2.1 million euros worth of scholarships in total.
Through the TalTech Development Fund, more than 60 contributors comprising private persons, organisations, and companies recognise the efforts of the students of TalTech. 484 applications were submitted for scholarships.
Väino Kaldoja, chairman of the supervisory board of the fund, handed over the baton to Robert Kitt, the new chairman, who in his speech highlighted the importance of cooperation between companies, sciences, and students which is facilitated by TalTech. ‘Students bring added value to our societies and cooperation between universities and companies must encourage this. The activities of the development fund are a prime example of such cooperation,’ said Robert Kitt.
The aim of the TalTech Development Fund is to collect and mediate grants to TalTech and invite Estonian entrepreneurs to cooperate with the university. Every year, the development fund announces scholarship competitions for students of all study levels, young researchers, and the teaching staff to strengthen students’ motivation to study and develop the next generation of academic staff at TalTech.
Scholarship competitions are held twice a year; the autumn 2019 competition will start in August.
