Noted science magazine acknowledged TTÜ chemists with title of best science article
Professor of Chemistry at Tallinn University of Technology, Tõnis Kanger and his research group are the recipients of the SYNTHESIS Best Paper Award 2017 for their articleAsymmetric Synthesis of 2,3,4-Trisubstituted Piperidines.
The authors of the article are Kadri Kriis, Triin Melnik, Kristiina Lips, Ilona Juhanson, Sandra Kaabel, Ivar Järving and Tõnis Kanger.
SYNTHESIS (Thieme) is a noted scientific journal for the publication of organic chemistry achievements and methods for obtaining new compounds. According to Professor Paul Knochely, editor in chief of the magazine, this article describes the asymmetric synthesis of substituted piperidines, which are pharmaceutically very important compounds. "The method described is really very impressive. The selection committee noted not only the scientific value of the paper, but also its presentation." The committee also considered that the method developed would definitely be the path to the synthesis of pharmaceutical companies.
