The Department of Civil Engineering and Architecture invites applications for a professor position in Urban Water Systems.
The purpose of the position is academic development of urban water systems in smart cities to make it more attractive to new students in all study levels. Systematic approach is needed to integrate research and teaching in water engineering and to disseminate and exploit the results. TalTech has to be spokesman in decreasing the flood risks in urban areas triggered by climate change, solving interdisciplinary challenges and implementing results (e.g. smart hydraulic systems, combining environmental engineering with IoT solutions etc.), analyzing of complex built water systems.
Managing the research and development in the field, managing of research topics. Co-operation with other R&D organizations and companies. R&D in design, optimization, management and risk assessment of urban water systems (drinking water, storm water and sewage) and organizing funding for the R&D activities. Supervision of PhD, MSc and BSc students during their individual research. Publishing the R&D results, working as an expert in the field.
Lecturing in courses related to urban water systems in balanced quantity according to the Academic Career Management. Teaching (bachelor, master and doctoral level) and curricula development in the field of hydraulics, pumps, hydraulic networks using state of the art teaching and educational technology methods; management of the academic studies and curricula development and responsibility of the academic level in the field.
Participation in national and international decision-making bodies and commissions. Co-operation with editorial offices of scientific journals, reviewing scientific papers. Management of the Laboratory of Fluid Mechanics. Popularization of the research field. Carrying out continuing education lectures in the field.
• PhD in the related field;
• International work experience in the related field;
• Experiences in applying and carrying out R&D projects in the field as PI;
• Experiences in teaching, including supervision of Master and doctoral students;
• Level of scientific publications and citation comparable with professors in the field in reference universities;
• Experience in development and management of study programs;
• Productive supervision of PhD theses.
